The Lantern Review <\/em>editorial board\u00a0is pleased to announce that we have selected two poems to nominate for Sundress Publications’ 2011 Best of the Net<\/em> Anthology. They are, in order of appearance in our magazine:<\/p>\n

“Northwest Poem<\/a>” by W. Todd Kaneko<\/p>\n

“Vestige<\/a>” by Michelle Pe\u00f1aloza<\/p>\n

Both poems originally appeared in Lantern Review <\/em>Issue 2 <\/em> (Winter 2011)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

W. Todd Kaneko<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

W. Todd Kaneko <\/strong>is not cool enough to be a rock star, not tall enough\u00a0to be a professional wrestler, and not virtuous enough to be a\u00a0super-hero.* His stories and poems can be seen in Puerto Del Sol<\/em>, Crab\u00a0Creek Review<\/em>, Fairy Tale Review<\/em>, Portland Review<\/em>, Southeast Review<\/em>,\u00a0Blackbird<\/em>, The Huffington Post<\/em>, and elsewhere. He has received\u00a0fellowships from Kundiman and the Kenyon Review Writer’s Workshop. He\u00a0teaches in the Department of Writing at Grand Valley State University.\u00a0He lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan with the writer Caitlin Horrocks.<\/p>\n

Michelle Pe\u00f1aloza <\/strong>grew up in Nashville, Tennessee and earned her M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Oregon. Her poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in\u00a0Nashville Review, Lantern Review, Birmingham Poetry Review <\/em>and\u00a0Bellingham Review<\/em>, among others. She received the 2011 Women Writers\u2019 Literary Fellowship, awarded by Oregon Literary Arts, and currently serves as director of the Kidd Tutorials at the University of Oregon.<\/p>\n
