{"id":3312,"date":"2011-03-21T11:56:14","date_gmt":"2011-03-21T15:56:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lanternreview.com\/blog\/?p=3312"},"modified":"2011-04-01T09:45:23","modified_gmt":"2011-04-01T13:45:23","slug":"announcing-our-2011-national-poetry-month-prompt-contest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lanternreview.com\/blog\/2011\/03\/21\/announcing-our-2011-national-poetry-month-prompt-contest\/","title":{"rendered":"Announcing Our 2011 National Poetry Month Prompt Contest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lanternreview.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/thumb2.php_.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3370\" title=\"Lisa Chen's Mouth\" src=\"http:\/\/lanternreview.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/thumb2.php_.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"129\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a>In anticipation of National Poetry Month this April, the <em>LR <\/em>Blog is once again going to be holding a prompt contest.\u00a0 This year, we are pleased to partner with the generous folks at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kaya.com\/\">Kaya Press<\/a>, a unique small press that focuses on cutting-edge work by Asian diasporic writers.\u00a0 Just as with last year&#8217;s contest, the top four prompts that we select (three runners-up and one first-place winner) will be featured on the <em>LR<\/em> Blog on the Fridays of each full week in April, beginning on the 8th.\u00a0 The winners will be announced in reverse order, beginning with the third runner-up and ending with the first-place winner.\u00a0 This year&#8217;s grand prize (courtesy of Kaya&#8217;s sponsorship) is a copy of <a href=\"http:\/\/burroofinformationandculture.blogspot.com\/\">Lisa Chen<\/a>&#8216;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kaya.com\/books\/1\"><em>Mouth<\/em><\/a>, which our staff blogger Henry will be reviewing later this spring.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s how it will work:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1) Leave a comment on this post that includes the text of your prompt.\u00a0 <strong>Entries must be posted by 11:59PM EST on Thursday, March 31st. <\/strong>Comments  on this post will close after that time. Please leave some form of  basic contact information in your comment (preferably an email address), so that we can get in touch with you  if you win.<\/p>\n<p>2) During the first full week of April, we\u2019ll be choosing the four prompts that we like best.\u00a0 <strong>The winner and  all three runners up will have their entries featured as Weekly  Prompts<\/strong> on the LR Blog during the four Fridays from April 8th \u2013 29th.\u00a0 <strong>In addition, the  winner will also receive a special grand prize that has been graciously offered\u00a0 by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kaya.com\/\">Kaya Press<\/a>: a copy of Lisa Chen&#8217;s <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kaya.com\/books\/1\">Mouth<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fourwaybooks.com\/books\/youn\/index.php\"><\/a>.<\/em><\/strong> We will announce the runners up and winner week by week, starting with  the third runner-up and culminating with the winner, so keep on checking  back in April to see if your entry has been featured.<\/p>\n<p>3) <strong>A few ground rules:<\/strong> You may only enter once.
